TRANSFORMANCE Institute offers residencies for individuals and small groups from any community project, organisation or institution interested in cultural identity, cultural history, cultural literacy, pedagogy, community art and arts-education, community and organisational development, cultural and political action, pedagogies of transformation, and in knowing Brazil's social movements from within.

These residencies are attached to courses and projects and offer a profound 'formation through participation', based on the dialogic experience and learning of:

Performance-awareness
Dance narrative and dialogic storytelling
Cultural and intercultural literacy
Individual and collective transformation
Reflexive empathy and solidarity
Community-building
Cooperative production
Dialogic evaluation and planning

To qualify to be considered for a residency, you will need to either have participated in an extended TRANSFORMANCE workshop or project coordinated by one of the present directors of the Institute, or have been recommended by someone who has both participated in such a process. You can get an idea of the kind of residency TRANSFORMANCE offers by reading our project Land is Life.

The arrangements for all residencies (accomodation, food, transport, any necessary special equipment or fees) are all negotiated, according to the needs and resources of the organisation or community hosting the project, and the individual interested. Anyone accepted for a residency will be expected to be self-sufficient, motivated and committed to the Institute's aims.
